My Foot Hurts, Can I Go to the School Nurse?
i think there is something wrong with my foot. just my left one. whenever i'm up on my feet for a long time it really starts to hurt. last night i was dancing at the church and when i was at home i put my feet up. in about five minutes my left one was really hurting. it makes me limp. it still hurts this morning. by afternoon, though it shouldn't be hurting so much. this happens almost every morning, but last night i was more strenuous than usual, which is probably why it happened last night. i don't know what to do to stop the pain so i just deal with it. i mean, as long as i don't walk on it and keep it elevated it doesn't hurt. it's just when i get up to do something.

LOL... Remember the other night when Derek said he's feet hurt and why???? mine hurt too... It's because I have so much weight to support!!! :D
My feet having been hurting too, lately. It's usually in the morning when I just get up, or after I've been sitting awhile. I am wondering if it is a circulation problem. I'm hoping its not diabetes.
double points to anyone who can guess what movie i was referencing in the title.
a few years ago my ankles would hurt every morning. I could't walk on them. I finally went to the doctor and I had something called fasciitis. You can get it in your ankle, heal, or arch in your foot. Maybe it runs in the family. One of the symptoms is that it's bad in the morning and gets better by the end of the day. check into it.
And doesn't Elton say that on Clueless?
Less weight/ more activity/ shoes with a little heel are all the things that the doctor told me would help. I got shoes with a little heel, I did the stretching activities (toes on step and then put the heel down to floor), I am still working on the weight thing. But what really helped me was a priesthood blessing. My foot hurt so much that when the elders were at our house for dinner they asked if there was anything we needed before they left and I almost blurted out "A blessing". So Dad and one of the elders gave me a blessing. I took a nap before going to bed at 11 pm. Then when I got up to work I noticed I walked a little easier. Ever since then I have not had the problems I had before. I can even wear my sandals without a problem.
So remember: Weight-Activity-Blessing-Shoes WABS
um...first of all, did you not know that "high arches" run in our family? what sarah is alluding to could be the problem. I have it too, but it is in my arches. It is called Plantar Fascitis (click here) Anyway, it was soooo bad that I went to physical therapy to get it under control. Additionally, to compensate for the arches, my feet roll inward and end up pulling my pelvis out of alignment. It has been going on for years undiagnosed and untreated, that now i have a rotated pelvis. The physical therapy helped out a TON. The feet tend to hurt right when I wake up or if I have been doing strenuous activity. So, in the mornings, I stretch out my arches by letting them hang off the edge of a stair-step. Also, the PT taught me how to tape them when they get really bad. And finally, for the pelvic problem, I just simply lay on the floor, place a pillow in between my knees and squeeze the pillow until the pelvis pops back in place. The PT taught me that one too.
I *could* buy arch supports/insert for my shoes, but they are like $250-$300 per insert and my insurance does not cover them. Instead, I spent a pretty penny on a good pair of tennis shoes. Also - you are supposed to avoid flat shoes or shoes with too high of an arch when ou have this problem... So - flip flops, etc - no good.
Good luck... sorry for the medical lesson, but just in case this is it... ;)
sarah got it. it was elton. anyway, all these suggestions are great. it is usually worse in the morning. i haven't been wearing flip flops this year, and now i probably won't at all.
