Words

i learned some new words recently. i have a tendency to read the dictionary when i'm bored at somebody else's house. a fillip is a type of flick made by the thumb holding finger and then quickly releasing. i learned that last night. today i learned the word graffito. it's the singular of graffiti. i didn't even know graffiti had a singular form. i like to learn new words. especially if they are fun to say. one i relearned was jalousie. it's a type of window shade. it's made of wooden slats that can be adjusted. sometimes i learn a word, but i have no practical application for it so i forget about it. that's the case with jalousie. when i saw it in the dictionary i remembered seeing it before, but couldn't remember what it meant. anyway, don't be surprised if every once in a while i put a word post up.

i dont have dictionaries at my house...so, i guess if you come over and you're bored you'll just have to entertain the rest of us, or leave! hahaha!

By the way, in Hawaii, our windows were Jalousie windows, but were glass slats. and we pronounced them "Jealousy"... dont know if thats how the dictionary says we are supposed to say it... but that is how we did... lol!

I think if someone uses a big word with me they may as well follow it up with the definition because I don't know big words. So thanks for letting me know what they meant.

Kyle and I like to look up words on occasion. We will hear a word but then get confused in the meaning because it is similar to something else. For example we may look up the difference between an oxymoron and a paradox, or a homophone and a homonym.
