"Oh, Woe is Me"

time for a complaining post. our car is broken. it will probably cost more to fix it than it is worth. we've had it for about 6 years now and these last coupled of years it's been really having problems. something like a rack and pinion is broken and it's leaking stuff in different spots. i think we'll just try to get another car. a newer one. i wish this had happened a week earlier. then andy would have been on spring break and we wouldn't be figuring out how to get him to school and back home. hopefully we'll get it all figured out soon. derek is looking into getting a car loan and he's found some nice choices on craigslist. also in the bad news department, i've lost my palm pilot. i feel lost without it. i dont' know if i have appointments coming and some numbers i need are in there. ugh, i hate to complain on here. i don't want to be a "debbie-downer" or anything, but sometimes it seems like everything happens all at once.

on a better note, the weather has been really nice lately, which has caused our gas bill to go down quite a bit, so there's that.

Shipping Costs

i was on amazon tonight looking up a book i'd like to get: the wonderful flight to the mushroom planet.



i found some for really cheap. 1¢. of course shipping cost was almost $4. i mean, how much can it really cost to ship? that is where they make all their money i guess.

on a side note, my birthday is coming up.

Andy's 6th Birthday!

today we celebrated Andy's sixth birthday! we went to Nana and Grandpa's house and had a lot of family come over. we ate roast, cooked carrots, mashed potatoes, tossed salad, and cake and ice cream. i made two cakes. one was chocolate and the other was funfetti.

Gram and Grandad gave Andy a Wii game. he's very excited to try it out.

It's April!

yay! warm weather! we've gone to the park two days in a row. yesterday andy was so worn out he went to bed an hour early. he woke this morning saying he was tired. hmm, maybe we over did it. anyway, i love not needing to wear a coat, and i love wearing capri pants. now i just need to get a new pair of sandals. andy also needs sandals, but emmy doesn't. the ones she got last year still fit her.

i'm also looking forward to yard sales! i'm hoping to find an old desk phone.
we had one like this when i was a kid. it was a beige color and was in my mom and dad's room. i want to put it on the little table in my living room. i have a phone there now, but the base is so light it falls off every time i pick up the phone. so irritating. plus i like having the buttons away from my face so i don't accidentally hit them while i'm talking.

anyway, i'm glad spring has sprung. andy's birthday is this monday. we're having a birthday dinner for him on sunday and on monday he's gonna take some cupcakes to school with him. i'm gonna try to make the cupcake cones that i loved as a kid.
i hope they turn out right.
