School is Starting Soon.

andrew is gonna start kindergarten this month. i'm still waiting for a letter from the school to tell me what all supplies he needs. he is so excited! i don't know how i'll feel on the first day. andrew will be so ready. i just want him to learn to get along with all kinds of kids, and learn to write letters and numbers. he's still having a hard time writing his name. he recognizes the letters and he can type it, but can't write it very well. he tends to get frustrated when i help him, but maybe somebody who has a degree in children's education can help him better than i can. i hope so.

Do you have his name written for him to trace? Go from solid lines, then dotted lines. Maybe have his name for him to copy but not trace.

here in UT, they dont usually send a list home for the kids. State law says that public education is F.R.E.E. which also means supplies for elementary age kids. Ask around, see if that is the case there too. maybe you won't be getting a list. At any rate, he will still need crayons, glue stick, safety scissors and paper for "homework" if he gets any.

This year, the state is allowing elementary school teachers to send a list of "donation items" that they need for their class. Parents can choose to outfit their kids with these, donate extras, or not. The ones that don't will still be supplied with the stuff at school.

anyway... taking my kids to kindergarten, i didn't think I'd be emotional. But I was. All.Three.Times. Not like other parents who cried because they would miss them, or because they were sad their kid was growing up. But, I suppose tears of joy. Joy over seeing their faces with excitement while entering this new adventure. Yep... i cried. are you surprised? hahaha!

Well, for some reason every class I go in (ever since I changed schools) has a list for each student, but I don't know if it is because of my school, or because I'm in spectrum... hmm...
